Always great to share what I’ve been working on while the site has been in transition (
aka exploded between host and becoming fiery wreckage from which no comment/older page write ups could escape alive.) When trying to move from Bluehost to our new home a 1and1, all of the things went wrong and I was hit with a 2 month black out while we tried to sort through the difference in sorting/naming and files to recover info (It didn’t work.) Then we rebuilt the site from scratch using all my backups!
Because if you do art, save it everywhere… and then some. (As of May 2015 I’m learning to handle it all on my own.)
Jacobson and Theo will forever have my favorite banter moments, I used to just chuckle to myself at the computer at night like an unhinged individual when writing their dialogue. It’s aged decently and the more all-age friendly wording made it onto the page. I always picture these two just sitting in the back of a van insulting each other on long drives, which if I could work into the script would be pages upon pages.
That said – Welcome Back!
As Always, Thanks for Reading!
Greetings One and All!
I am proud to present a new page! It was the first thing I drew after a long extended winter break (
aka burnt out/life is hard sometimes) and it very much was trial and error. I had to learn to draw again, which sounds strange but you actually do get rusty very quickly, and it is endlessly frustrating. And as you can tell totally worth it! The 3rd panel is probably my favorite Theo panel of all time, just nailed him to a T there.
Which is the best when you are learning to draw a character again, and then can’t quite capture them the way you want. Lots of sighing and head scratching, the struggle is real.
Also! A very special shout out to my very good friend Matt Synowicz, who helped me layout both 17 and 18 when I was struggling to lock them down. We’ve been friends for almost a decade and have worked together on two separate occasions. As someone to look up to art wise, I couldn’t ask for someone better.
Click his name for his art blog, it’ll blow you away. If you can dream it, he’s done it, been featured for it, then did it again.
(He was actually going to be the artist for Underdogs at one point and we have some designs/about 10 rough pages laying around, those might float to the surface someday in the future. Though for the forseeable future they are massive spoilers, as it was an unused 10 page intro…. with giant robots. Not even slightly kidding.)
Thanks for Reading!
Thanks for stopping in, I have been having a mysterious computer issues as of late. It’s making certain programs lag while others just seem to breeze on through, but it means the world to me that you have the patience to keep popping in. I’ll make a blog later today, or tomorrow that shoulder catch you all up on the current going-ons with my end of things.
This page was fantastic to draw, I knew that Reaper was going to come out with a bang and just really wanted to show that in your face. It’s the direct approach that Reaper is going to be known for, I hope that came across. It’s a blast (
pun kind of intended) to design the weapons and gear that gets to be featured in these pages and I’ve been trying to push myself out of my comfort bubble to make some really interesting stuff. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Reaper is going to be sticking around these next few pages, so strap in and let’s see how the boys fare against a physical threat. My reaction is pretty close to Jacobson’s at the idea of them all throwing down in a knock down by your boot heels fight.
As always, Thanks for Reading!
Special Flashback Appearance!
It had been so long since I had a chance to draw Battering Ram! I had a blast with retouching how we had last seen him mid-Issue 1, which I had to reference heavily. It also been a good while since I had done anything in Eric’s water color like memory, so it was a real treat to break out both of those at the same time.
And that’s not even touching on why Reaper hadn’t been letting Eric lay a hand on the armor during combat, those big mitts are bending it like tin foil. The real shout out goes to the MVP of Theo, who was way ahead of curve by getting Reaper tripped up to begin with. That fellow is crafty, even half consumed in a biological crystal mass of growing crystal.
Special thanks to Anthony Salinas, if you didn’t know by now, he gives me some help with layouts and poses when I get stuck. Panel 2 was a mess before he helped me hash out a better idea. So this page looks even prettier thanks to him
I hope you enjoy! That makes 3 weeks in a row, so I am taking a week break to try and build up a buffer and take care of some site necessities, comments as always are welcome over the short break. I’ll have more to share with you all soon, and keep an eye on Instagram for sneak peeks!
As Always, Thanks for Reading.
I made it! 3 updates in a row for the first time since all this craziness started, using the next off week to catch up on some things and then add advance shading to the last 3 pages (This one especially).
Still much to do, but at least things make sense now visually. Jacobson is still a **** and Theo is still able to turn into a lightbulb at a button press.
Remember dear readers! 3 updates in a row and then an off week. So expect the next update by the 19th! (Mid C2E2 – So fingers crossed)
Thank you for reading!
